The
fabric painting (batik), which was so little known to the Armenians is now
becoming as popular as other traditional types of painting. It was Nune
Aghbalyan who nearly 20 years ago made incredible progress in this field.
Penetrating into the core of the traditions, but not imitating them she is
creating her own free, natural style, which is not standard but rather
original among its types, perhaps, because of the specific character of this
Asian art.
Nune decorates her works with vivid outlines, which tenderly transfer into
gorgeous oriental patterns resembling a real, alive organism. The historical
and artistic resources of Nune's compositions seem to have no limits - that
is her style, revealing her strong first knack in seeing and reflecting
graphic motives and creating - exciting tender aquarelle tones.
